A Work for Hire Agreement should be used when hiring a third-party to create content that you would like to claim full ownership of. A work for hire agreement protects the copyright by ensuring that the ownership remains with the hiring party. Work for hire agreements are used with employer/employee relationships. Work for hire agreements are also used with Independent contractors when the copyrighted material fits into one of these categories: a contribution to a collective work, a part of a motion picture or audiovisual work, a translation, a supplementary work, a compilation, an instructional text, answer material for a test, or an atlas.
